Biography
Richard Harvey AKA Harvie
Origin
Richard Harvey was probably born at either Denby or Ilkeston, Derbyshire, England. He is assumed to have been the son of Vincent Harvey and Anna Saltonstall. (Citation needed).
Richard's last name at birth is spelled Harvey per Anderson's Great Migration series. This source shows him with his wife, Ellen, and identifies him with his son, Richard Harvey. Andereson,Robert Charles, (1995) "Richard Harvey," Featured name. Great Migration 1634-1635, G-H. AmericanAncestors.org NEHGS, (Vol G-H, Page 231).
Marriage
Richard married on 22 July 1604 at Denby (4 miles from Ilkeston), to Ellen Elliot (as "Elena Hellott"). Jacobus, Donald Lines (1960) "Origin or Ancestry of American Families Abroad: Harvey, Richard; Stratford, Conn." The American Genealogist. NEHGS AmericanAncestors.org (Vol 37, Pages 77-79, citing Page 78). (Note - Anderson also spells her name "Elliot" in his feature on William Beardsley). Anderson, Robert C., (1995) "William Beardsley," Featured name. Great Migration 1634-1635, A-B. NEHGS AmericanAncestors (Volume 1, A-B, Page 225).
The transcription by Phillemore reports a marriage at Ilkeston between"Richardus Harvie ac Elena Hellot .. 22 July 1604." Phillimore, W.P.W., (1910) Derbyshire Parish Registers. Marriages. Vol 7. London: HathiTrust.org (Vol 7,Pages 3-4).
Death and Legacy
Richard Harvey died between December 14, 1616, when his will was dated, and December 31, 1616 when he was buried. When he died, the name was spelled Harvie, per Ilkeston parish records. It seems he was a tailor (taylr) or linen weaver, but his burial entry described him as a clergyman (possibly self-taught).

Copy Print and Design, 64 Derby Road, Long Eaton, Derbyshire, England (Note: this source is cited by others - have not readit)
Note: Additional spelling of last name could be Hervey (per the Walker Family Org. online site).: This site also mentions "He was christened on 8 May 1577 in Denby, Derby, England." Richard Harvie, of Denby, married at Horsley on 20 Sep 1601 to Margaret Wilcockson, of Woodhouse. Phillimore, W.P.W., (1910) Derbyshire Parish Registers. Marriages. Vol 7. The later was married, as "Richardus Harvie"on 22 July 1604 to Elena Hellott ["Elliott"].
