Richard Hudson was born in Mecklenburg, North Carolina, United States as the son of Charles Hudson and Martha Robertson. He married Sarah Lamb about 1766, in Randolph, North Carolina, United States. They were the parents of at least 2 sons and 3 daughters. He died in 1803, in Lost Creek, Jefferson, Tennessee, United States.
