About Richard Mason
Notes

Gottschalk notes that there is ONLY ONE RECORD IN STAFFORD for this Richard Mason: She states that he was living in Stafford Co. in 1692 when his wife, Frances petitioned the court to be allowed to work for her living as her husband did not support her. I have NOT seen this record; thus it is questionable as a source.
However, in 1705, the will of William Wentworth Matheny left to a William Mason, "the son of my wife Frances," 100 acres in the Aquia area. It may be the 100 acres described in the following deed between Thomas Norman and William Matheny , witnessed by John Mason, and later purchased by William Wentworth Matheny
Gottschalk claims two more children for Richard Mason and wife Frances: George Mason, for whom she has no further information [and I have thus far found no evidence that he existed] and Frances Mason who married 1) John Kirk 2) William Clift.
GEDCOM Note
Undocumented son no positive proof
George Mason and Mary French had one son who reached maturity, and there may have been other children, but positive proof is lacking. Captain George Mason was recognized in Stafford County Court as the son and heir of Colonel George Mason.Source, George Mason Including One Line of Descent, compiled by Martha Stuart Helligso, 1983
