Biographical Summary:
"...The 2nd son of William J. F. and Elizabeth McAllister was born at Lewes, Delaware October 24, 1824. He moved with his parents to Philadelphia the winter of 1828/9 and that is where he grew up. He met an orphan girl, Eleanor Bell, who was living near the McAllister home with an uncle, James See. They were married in 1844..."
"...Richard W. was baptized into the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints on Jan 1, 1861 by his brother John D.T. McAllister. Many of the McAllister family were baptized by Uncle John that same month, and all of them emigrated to Utah that summer and fall. A more complete history of Richard Wesley will be a feature of future issues..."

Obituary:
"...Died of old age - Richard W. McAllister lays down life's burden after80 years. Richard W. McAllister, brother J. D. T. Mcallister,president of the Manti Temple, and a well known and highly respected resident of this city, died at his home, 511 S. 8th E. Street at 10:30 last night, of general debility. The deceased was 80 years of age,and had been somewhat feeble for the past 2 years although seriously ill for only about 2 weeks. Mr McAllister came to Utah from Lewes,Sussex, Delaware, in 1862 and has resided here ever since. He leaves a wife and 11 children, 3 sons, and 8 daughters to mourn his departure. The funeral will be held Friday at 2 p.m. from the 10th ward assembly rooms, corner of 4th S. and 8th E. Streets. Friends are invited to attend..."
