Richard Newsham

Richard Newsham (Newsom) Married Barbara Fleetwood of Rossall Hall. At the Preston Guild in 1622 he was with his brothers William, Thomas, George and John and their father Robert Newsham (Gent) Their address was Plumpton a small vilage near Kirkham and about 6 miles from the sea at Blackpool. Twenty years later at the 1642 Preston Guild Richard was described as Gentleman Of Preese Hall and Preese is a village next to Plumpton. With him at the Guild this time were his brothers William and George and William's sons Robert, Richard, William and John with Thomas son of Thomas deceased. Two years later Preese Hall was sold for £550 to a London Tailor. Preese is about 8 miles from Bispham and about 12 miles from Rossall Hall. See Sources for record of sale of Preese Hall.

Richard Newsom was the last of the Newsoms to live in Newsham Hall. After at least seven generations in the family, the Hall was sold to a Thomas Wilson in about 1630. Richard died two years later.
