His will was dated 8/21/1840 in Monroe County, TN. He signed his name with an X. He gives his wife, Nancy, all of his land, stock, furniture. He has already given oldest sons, Lewis and Daniel, each a horse. He desires that his three slaves, Clarissa, Burrell and Hugh, to be sold after the death of his wife. Daughters, Faith, and Sarah and sons Jasper Newton and William Asbury. This information was in a letter to Rebecca Rex (Stephens) Heberling from Mrs. Jewel 5/51957 who copied will from Will Book A, pg. 5, Monroe County,TN
