Richard Vince, Jr.

Richard Vince, one of Stephen F. Austin's Old Three Hundred colonists, and his brothers, Allen, Robert, and William, came to Texas in 1822. The family was originally from Georgia. Richard and Robert were partners on August 21, 1824, when they received title to a sitio of future Harris County land on the north side of Buffalo Bayou between Harrisburg and the site that became the San Jacinto battleground. Vince obtained a license to marry Mary Jane Perry on September 22, 1837, but it is not known whether the marriage took place. Vince was administrator for his brother Robert's estate in 1837. Richard Vince died in Fort Bend County in November 1839. On January 1, 1844, Allen Vince gave notice in the Telegraph and Texas Register that he would settle the estate of Richard Vince, deceased, at Richmond on January 29, 1844.
