About Richard Walthall, Sr.
Richard was the son of William Walthall and Ann Archer born abou t 1660 in Henrico County, VA. He died about 1714 in Henrico County, VA.
Biographical sketch
While the exact date of Richard's birth is not known, it was earlier than 28 Jan 1664 (twenty one years later he testified as a Court witness on 28 Jan 1685) and almost certainly not later than 1661. The name of his wife is not known. In 1685, his servant, Richard Carver, was judged for his age. On 1 June 1692, he was appointed foreman of the Grand Jury for the ensuing year. It is probable that he inherited one third of his father's land and that it was this land that he bequeathed to his four sons in his will of 1 J an 1713/14 (recorded 4 Apr 1715). In this will he made bequests to each of h is ten children and appointed sons Richard and Henry as executors.
