About Richard White, Jr., of Hutton
The existence of yet another Richard White was deduced from the utter impossibility of Richard White "I" (d. 1490?) Sir Richard White, Kt. being the father of Richard White "II" (b. between 1500 and 1516).
The next monument to be noticed in the church of Hutton lies also in the chancel. It is a small plate of brass thus inscribed, in black letter:-
Here lyeth George White, Esquier, the sonne of Richard White, the sonne of Richard White, Esquiers, which George died the xiv day of June, in the yere of our Lord God 1584.
This is undoubtedly the monument of the George White, mentioned in a former page, as a benefactor to the poor of Hutton. https://blackmorehistory.blogspot.com/2009/07/hutton-revd-suckling-...
This plate makes it clear that George's father and grandfather were both named Richard, and both were armigerous gentry but not knights. It is very likely that his great-grandfather was yet another Richard - the obvious candidate being Sir Richard White, son of John White of Farnham.
