From the memorial brass at St Mary, it can be seen that Richard & Joan had seven sons, of whom five died in infancy and eight daughters, of whom four survived.
The inscription reads;
Her lyeth Richard Yate and Johane his wyf the which
Richard decessed the XII / day of marche the yere of
our lord MCCCClXXXXVIII & the said Johane decessed the
vii / day of marche the yere of our lord MVc on whose
Souls God have mercy amen.
