About Richard de Wydeville
Please see attached CPR (v. 11) document of pages RE known Wydevills. If anyone one has access to the expensive Douglas Richardson books, searching them may provide more documentation. The Complete Peerage and FMG do not know Richard's ancestry.
Without further primary sources coming to light, all continuing lineal connections, starting with the fictive parents of Richard, represent guesswork, not legitimate genealogy. The CPR states: "Richard de Wydeville, b. about 1310, was the first member of the Wydevill family of Grafton (Regis), Northants, to achieve more than local prominence."[Footnote: "His parentage is unknown; but the family of Wydevill or Wodevill had long been seated at Grafton.]
