Early life. Archdeacon of Liège. in 1348. Later, archdeacon of Perugia. Protonotary apostolic.
Cardinalate. Created cardinal deacon of S. Adriano in the consistory of December 17, 1350. Participated in the conclave of 1352, which elected Pope Innocent VI. Abbot commendatario of Nonatola in 1358. Participated in the conclave of 1362, which elected Pope Urban V. Archpriest of the patriarchal Vatican basilica in 1366. Charged with three other cardinals with receiving the profession of faith of Oriental Emperor Johannes Paleologus in the church of Spirito Santo in Sassia, Rome, in 1369. Cardinal protodeacon in 1370. Participated in the conclave of 1370, which elected Pope Gregory XI; he crowned the new pope.
