About Rita Jacobson (Nussbaum)
During a time when the Apartheid Government limited education facilities for black children, Rita was co-founder of Entokozweni School in a black area and acted as Secretary/ Treasurer for many years. She survived in that role despite her son's pet mouse escaping and nesting in one of her document storage boxes and destroying all the important documents.
Rita was a top ranking International bridge player who represented South Africa at many International competitions including several Bridge Olympics. She received high acclaim for her ability and played with, and against, all the world's major bridge players. In 1984 she emigrated to Aust* ralia, and immediately established herself as a force on that country's bridge scene and it was just a matter of time before she was selected to represent Australia in International competitions.
Her acute mind and daunting intelligence was her trademark, yet she had a generosity of spirit that touched all she met and was a much loved mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
