Biography

Cecily De Ufford married before 1348 to John, 3d Lord Willoughby d'Eresby, who died 29th March 1372, having survived his wife. Their son Robert, 4th Lord Willoughby was born in 1349, and was one of the coheirs of his uncle William, Earl of Suffolk in 1381.

"He participated in the chevauchée of John of Gaunt, duke of Lancaster, in 1373–4, in Richard II's invasion of Scotland in 1385, and in Gaunt's expedition to Spain in 1386–7. He was summoned to Parliament from 20 Jan. 1375/6 by writs directed Roberto de Wilughby. He was co-heir in 1382 to his uncle, William de Ufford, 2nd Earl of Suffolk."[1]

Robert de Willoughby married first to Margery Zouche before 1 October 1369, when she is named as Robert's wife in a record relating to John de Newerk of Fulstow, Lincolnshire. Born about 1350, she was the daughter of William la Zouche and his wife Elizabeth Ros. He and Margery had five sons, William, K.G. [5th Lord Willoughby], Robert, Thomas, Knt., John, and Brian.

Margery died on 18 October 1391 and was buried at Spilsby, Lincolnshire. The memorial inscription at Spilsby for her and her husband does not mention the name of her birth family, Zouche. Her husband survived her, subsequently marrying Elizabeth le Latimer.

Elizabeth, Baroness Latimer (of Corby) was born circa 1356. She was the daughter of William le Latimer, 3rd/4th Lord Latimer (of Corby) and Elizabeth FitzAlan. She married first, as second wife, to John Neville, 3rd Lord Neville, son of Ralph de Neville, 2nd Lord Neville and Alice Audley, before 9 October 1381. He died Died 17 Oct 1388. Their children were John, 6th Lord Latimer; and Elizabeth Neville, who married Sir Thomas Willoughby (her step brother).

He and Elizabeth had one daughter, Margaret.[1]

Elizabeth Latimer made her will on 18 Oct. 1395, proved 10 Nov. 1395, requesting burial at Spilsby, Lincolnshire.

Disputed wife

Cokayne's Complete Peerage states that Alice, said to be daughter of William Skipwith, was Robert's first wife and mother of his son William.[3] No sourcing is given, and subsequent research suggests that this relationship is wrong.
