Robert A. Bacon died the evening of Tuesday, Feb. 7, 1995, at the University Place Care in Tacoma, which had been his home since 1993. He was 86.

He was born Oct. 25, 1908, in Williston, ND, into the large family of Joseph E. and Rose (Welch) Bacon. The family moved to the Island more than 70 years ago. Robert Bacon graduated from Vashon High School in three years and was captain of the football team. He and Clyed Ebetts married on Vashon in 1931. They raised a large family. The couple divorced in the 1950s.

Mr. Bacon had a varied working career, which culminated as a commercial fisherman. He is remembered as a strong-minded and strong-willed individual.

Survivors include two daughters, Nancy Kristjanson of Seattle and Faith Ann Massucci of New York; six sons, David of Lacey, Bruce of Renton, Tony of Vashon, Frank of Denver, CO, Robert (Danny) of Post Falls, ID, and Jonathan of Seattle; a sister, Viola Olsen of Vashon; 39 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 18, in the chapel of Island Funeral Service."
