About Robert Terrance Bren

Robert Terrence "Terry" Bren, 55, former resident and busiessman of Watertown, died unexpectedly March 5, 2014 at his home in Katy, TX. Memorial services were held at St. Peter's Lutheran, Goodwin, SD. Interment of Terry's cremains in the Goodwin Cemetery

Born May 3, 1958 to Robert and Mary Sue (Morton) Bren in Missoula, MT, Terry was baptized at First English Lutheran. The family moved to Saginaw, MI later that year where Terry attended Bethany Lutheran Church and St. Paul's Lutheran Elementary until 1969, when the family relocated to Carey, OH. Terry was Confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran in Findlay, OH and graduated from Carey High in 1976. Following graduation he moved with the family to Goodwin and began his career as Diesel Mechanic at Spartz Implement. He owned and managed The Lounge bar in Watertown for a time, but returned to the mechanical vocation he loved, working as Service Manager at various national automotive and RV dealerships in New Mexico, Arizona, North Carolina and finally Texas, where he was Service Manager at Camping World.

Terry married Cindy Skaare in 1981. They later divorced. They had one daughter, Chelsea Marie Bren, whom Terry cherished above all else. Terry studied at North Dakota State College of Science and was an avid NASCAR fan. He built and raced his own Mustang dragster, which he named ‘Twisted Cheeto'. He was sponsored by Roush/Yates Performance Engines and competed at ‘Pinks All-Out' in 2009 and again in 2010. Terry and ‘Cheeto' competed on the SPEED Channel as a car and driver entry for PASS TIME and were fan favorites at notable racetracks, including Darlington and Rockingham. Terry's Christian faith was his foundation throughout his life and remains a source of deep comfort to friends and family.

Surviving Terry are: daughter, Chelsea (Shamus Coneys) - parents, Bob and Sue Bren - siblings, Richard (Lisa) Bren - Susan (Dennis) Hellmann - Bobbe (Craig) Carley -uncles and aunts, Chad (Vic) Bren - Philip (Kay) Morton - Gerald Trogdon -Janice Bren - Betty Fain - Portsmouth, VA; many cousins, nieces, nephews and grand-nieces.

Terry was preceded in death by grandparents, Oscar and Maizie Bren, Franklin and Elizabeth Morton; uncles and aunts, Oscar (Connie) Bren, Maxine (Merlin) Johnson, Coye Bren,Weaver Morton, Chester Fain, Linda Trogdon; nephew, Spencer Carley.
