Robert Calvert

Robert was a brother to Leonard Calvert and Uncle to George Calvert, the 1st Lord Baltimore, who obtained the charter for the colony of Maryland.

Robert Calvert was born abt 1546 in Durham County, near Yorkshire, England. He was the son of Sir John Calvert (1525-1566) and Dorothy (Leonard) Calvert (1527-1611). Dorothy was born in Herstmonceux Castle, Sussex, England and died in Bolton Castle, Yorkshire, England.

Robert married Margaret Cubie (1557-1645)in Prestonpans, Gloucestershire, England in 1577. Margaret was the daughter of Walter Cubie (1515-?) and unknown mother. Margaret was from Scotland, and this couple lived in Scoltand, and their only child was born in Scotland.

Robert and Margaret Calvert were the parents of Anne Marie Calvert. Anne married Dr. James Bealle and was the mother of 10 children, including Colonel Ninean Beall who was famous in the USA.

Robert Calvert died aft 1616 in North Yorkshire, England. His burial location is unknown at this time.
