THE VILLAGES — Robert A. Capron, 92, died Friday, Sept. 18, 2009. Mr. Capron was born in Brooklyn, PA.
He had been a teacher and principal in Pennsylvania, retiring in 1981; he was involved in numerous programs to increase student achievement levels; enjoyed church, travel, adventure and volunteer work; was active in Marietta, GA, with Habitat for Humanity, golfing and woodworking; had a passion for golf and was rewarded with four hole's-in-one, two at the same golf course; was a 67-year member of Hartford Lodge No. 445 Free and Accepted Masons; a 32nd degree member of the Keystone Consistory, Scranton, Pa.; and member of St. George Episcopal Church, The Villages.
Survivors include his sister, Dorothy Dyson, Broomall, Pa.; daughters, Mary E. Brennan, The Villages, Barbara A. Cloud, Levittown, Pa.; sons, John A., Fairless Hills, Pa., James R., Earlville, Md., Robert A., Wallace, Calif., Bruce A., Wilmington, Del.; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held 2 to 3 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 22, at Beyers Funeral Home, Lady Lake, with funeral service following at 3 p.m.
An additional service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Sept. 28, at the First Universalist Church, Brooklyn, Pa. Interment will be at the Mountain View Cemetery in Brooklyn.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Villagers for Hospice, Cornerstone Hospice, 601 Casa Bella, The Villages 32162-9985 or St. George Episcopal Church, 1250 Paige Place, The Villages 32159.
Beyers Funeral Home, Lady Lake, is in charge of arrangements.
