YONGALA, March 8.— The late Mr. Robert Christmas Lindo was born at Brooke, Norfolk, England, on December 25, 1812. He arrived in South Australia in the ship Steboneth on May 10, 1849, and after living near Adelaide for six months removed to Nairne, where he carried on farming operations for about 20 years. During this period he visited the Victorian goldfields, but was not successful in his quest for the precious metal. He subsequently relinquished farming, and resided for it while at Mintaro and Burra, but eventually settled at Jamestown about 24 years since. For the past 13 years he was afflicted with blindness, and although compelled to lead a retired life, he maintained a keen interest in agricultural pursuits. His death occurred at the residence of his daughter (Mrs. M. Bowles, Yongala) on Friday last, and his remains were interred at Jamestown on Sunday. He has left two sons — Mr. Wilson Lindo, of New South Wales, and Mr. J. H. Lindo, of Cradock— five daughters— Mrs. M. Bowles, of Yongla; Mrs. Day, Jamestown; Mrs. W. H. Bray, Silverton; Mrs. D.
