Robert Christopher Newton

Robert Christopher Newton was born in the United Kingdom and was raised in Liverpool. He was the youngest of 5 children. He grew up in an orphanage in Liverpool. He was an auto mechanic. He left for WWII at the age of 17 and became a prisoner of war for 3 years. While in the hospital he met Joan Irene Hawkins and she nursed him back to health. They married shortly after that. He went over to Canada to see if he would like to take his family there . It was a no so he took them to Rhodesia where he bought a large chicken farm. The first day they arrived there was no roof on the house. He went into the bedroom and ran out and grabbed a broom.He ran back into his bedroom and started swatting at the large tarantula spiders. A famous story of him. He passed on at 34 or 35 years old with cancer. He is buried in Rhodesia now Zimbabwe. He was a loving Daddy and my Daddy's hero! He should have been a movie star. He was extremely handsome! I wish I could have known him.
