    • William Alexander Craig, his wife Janet Craig nee Stuart and children (sons William, John, Robert and James and daughter Sarah) came to America from Ireland before 1733, with 1721/22 their most likely time of arrival. 1/ In 1732 they were living in Chester County, PA. In 1737, son James was living in London Grove, Lancaster County (proven by law suit record of Hartley vs Craig). In 1740, the family minus William (who died in Pennsylvania) migrated south to Virginia, and the whole family was living in Augusta County, VA by 1745 as attested by baptismal records of Reverand John Craig.
    • William and family settled in present day Rockingham County, VA (part of Augusta Co at that time) on Cub Run about one mile from the Shenandoah River. William died in 1759 and his will was recorded in Staunton, VA. Sons James and Robert settled permanently in the Mt. Meridian area of Augusta County. Robert resided on the Middle River near the present village of Mt. Meridian in Augusta County. The youngest son, John, purchased "...land from the Franciscos" in 1748 located on Cub Run in present day Rockingham County, VA.
