Robert Crook was born Feb. 4, 1921, in Monroe, NC, a son of Pink and Pearl Starnes Crook. He married Kathryne McEwin on Oct. 9, 1943, in Chicota. He was retired from the Texas Department of Transportation after 20 years of service. He had also worked for Lone Star Gas, Beall's and Famous Shoe Store. After retiring, he went to work for Bright-Holland Funeral Home in 1986, where he worked until 1993. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Paris, TX, where he served as a deacon and a member of the Woolston Sunday School Class. He was a member of the Golden K Kiwanas Club. He served in the U.S. Army, TEC 5, during World War II.
