About Robert Park Dickson
Attended public schools at Swissvale and Duff's Mercantile College - at 13 yrs he went to work as an office boy for Dr. Dwyer of Perm Avenue, Pittsburg; became an operator for C., D. & P. Telephone Company; then was a pupit boy for Edgar Thomson Steel Works.
In 1881 he was stock clerk and assistant superintendent of transportation with Homestead Mills (until 1903) - quit and went into the newspaper business in Swissvale w/ John E. Lee
(Lee & Dickson) - lasted about a year and then went with Duquesne Steel Works of the Carnegie Steel Company and worked as a stock clerk.
Elected a member of the council at Swissvale - 3 yr term, but resigned after 1 yr.
