Robert Eugene Duckworth, Sr.

Robert Eugene Duckworth Sr., 92, of Roanoke, the last surviving partner of the original Adams Construction Company, died Saturday, February 25, 2012. He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Bessie Duckworth; brothers, Millard and Kermit Duckworth, of Jacksonville, Fla.; sisters, Sue O'Neal, of Miami, Fla., Rachel DeLoach, of Columbus, Ga., Dulce Logan, of Columbia, S.C., Martha Adams, of Roanoke, Ruby Ahren, of Thomaston Ga.; and sons, Robert E. (Bobby) Duckworth, and Donald Lee Duckworth. Mr. Duckworth was a member of the National Asphalt Paving Association and the Virginia Asphalt Association. He was a member and past President of the Cardinal Virginia Motor Home Club.
Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Margaret Mattox Duckworth; sons, Barry and wife, Sheila, of Abingdon, and David, of Roanoke; daughter-in-law, Laura Mullins Duckworth; granddaughter, Stacy Duckworth Lynch and husband, Claude; grandsons, Jeffrey and wife, Pam, Robbie, Jason and wife, Robyn, Tyler, Harley, and Ethan Duckworth; great-grandchildren, Dakota, Wyatt, Wren, and Zachary Duckworth; stepgrandchildren, Dakota and Josiah Weignes; sisters-in-law, Hilda Duckworth, of Jacksonville, Fla., and Nell Mitchell, of Emporia; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Vision Fund Care of Ridgewood Baptist Church, 703 Hemlock Rd., NW, Roanoke, VA 24017; or to a charity of the donor's choice.
A Cryptside Service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, February 28, 2012, in Sherwood Memorial Park by the Rev. Roy Kanode.
