About Robert F. Eliot
ROBERT F. ELIOT DEXTER - Robert F. Eliot, 77, died Sunday, June 14, 1987, at his home following a brief illness. He was born in St. Albans, the son of George (Fred) Eliot and Frances Ireland Eliot. He graduated valedictorian, class of 1928, from N.H. Fay High School, Dexter. He attended Tufts University and Bentley College in Boston. He graduated from Albion School of the Theater in New York and worked at the Cleveland Theatre in Ohio. In 1940, he married Martha Mary Pooler of Dexter, who died in February 1987. He lived in Norway for 22 years where he was employed as chief purchasing agent for Sanborn's Motor Express. He was the director of the "Pennessawassee Players", a popular theatre group. He was lay minister for the Norway Universalist Unitarian Church. He spent his retirement years in Ocean Park, Maine. Since 1967 he has been an active member of Monhegan Associates, Inc. He is survived by his son, John of Bethel; and a daughter, Joanne Moore of Bath; a twin sister, Charlotte Chandler of Dexter; and five grandchildren. Private services were held at his home Monday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Dexter Ambulance Fund, Box 161, Dexter, Maine 04930.
