About Robert Sudlow Garratt

This is a sort of side issue to the Garratt family. I am loking into my Sudlow family tree and note the occurrence of the name Sudlow as a Christian name for several generations of Garratts. I can shed some light on this.
There was a John Sudlow (probably not an ancestor of mine) who was a solicitor in London around the start of the nineteenth century. He was a friend of John Garratt. In his will John Sudlow seems to leave the majority of his estate to his Godson:
I give and devise unto my dear Godson John Garratt the eldest son of my excellent friend John Garratt of Surbiton Place in the said County of Surrey Esquire one of the Alderman of the City of London All that my messuage or dwellinghouse in which I now reside situate ? and being in the parish of Thames Ditton aforesaid together with the coachhouse stable and all the other outhouses and buildings to the same belonging and ? therewith and also the gardens greenhouses and hothouses also thereon belonging and adjoining and occupied with the said messuage or dwellinghouse all which said messuage and other hereditaments and premises are of the nature of ffreehold of ? except a small slip of ground formerly waste ground and then and now part an parcel of the manor of Insworth otherwise Timber? Court and holden by me of the Lord of the said Manor by copy of court roll at yearly rent of six pence suit of court and fine certain of six pence on death
The will is several pages long but you get the drift.
Anway, I guess, out of gratitude, Garratts used the name Sudlow.
