http://www.saratogian.com/article/ST/20010216/NEWS/302169991 Robert Graf BALLSTON SPA -- Robert F. Graf, 77, of Heritage Place died Wednesday, Feb. 14 at his home. Born in Ballston Spa on Nov. 28, 1923, he was the son of Fred and Iris Graf, Jr. He was a decorated US Marine Corp veteran. He served in the 4th Marine Division in World War II and was awarded a Bronze Star, Purple Heart, Presidential Unit Citation, Marine Corps Expeditionary Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal and Battle Stars, American Campaign Medal and World War II Victory Medal. He also received a NYS Conspicuous Service Medal. He worked for the Watervliet Arsenal for 35 years, retiring in 1986. He then worked for WMHT and Proctor's Theatre in Schenectady. He was an archivist at the Village office in Ballston Spa and volunteered at the Saratoga County Jail. He was an Eagle Scout and a former scout master for Troop 1 of Ballston Spa. He was a prolific writer and wrote many books, including "Small Town Boy" and "Easy Company My Life in the US Marine Corp." He was a member of Christ Episcopal Church of Ballston Spa where he served as a former vestryman, VFW Post 358 of Ballston Spa and The Marine Corp League. He was predeceased by his wife, Marilyn Graf and a brother, Louis Graf. Survivors include two daughters, Janice Baird of Ballston Spa and Patricia Graf of New York City; a son, David Graf of Tampa, Fla.; three grandchildren, Jeremy Baird of Washington D.C., Jeffery Baird of Gansevoort and Jason Baird of Ballston Spa; two great-grandchildren, Andrew and Collin Baird of Gansevoort; two sisters, Audrey Fitzgerald of Malta and Irene Melander of Malta; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 17 at Christ Episcopal Church, West High Street, Ballston Spa. Burial will be at Ballston Spa Cemetery. Calling hours will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Armer Funeral Home, Inc., 39 East High St., Ballston Spa.
