About Robert Hamilton, younger of Torrance
ROBERT HAMILTON OF TORRANCE primus
Robert Hamilton of Torrance, younger, is the only son of James Hamilton of Torrance and his first wife Anna Cunynghame. [Lieutenant-Colonel George Hamilton, The House of Hamilton (J. Skinner & Company, Edinburgh, 1933), see pages 850-58 for an account of the Hamiltons of Torrance] When his mother died in May 1627 his father gave up the inventory of her moveable estate in name and behalf of Robert Hamilton and his sister Ann Hamilton: "his lawfull bairnes procreat betwixt thame". He was alive when his mother's testament was confirmed on 30 May 1628 [National Records of Scotland, Commissary Records of Hamilton and Campsie, Testament Dative of Anna Cunynghame, reference CC10/5/5] but probably died soon after this.
