s/o Thomas & Christian Woodson Hodges
Son, Robert Hodges b 1704 in Henrico County, Virginia Planter, 09 Feb 1727 Deed ½ of 400 acres of Land Patented , North Side of James River.
Robert Hodges was born 1704 Newport Parish, Isle of Wight, Colony of Virginia. He married Elizabeth Higgins 1725, Age: 21 in Isle of Wight, Virginia. Their children born 1730 were: Isham(1731-1782) ) Josiah(1740-1814) Robert (1750-1832) William(1754-1817) Nancy(1756-1815) Amarjah Keziah(1758-1857) Judith(1761-1832) Martha Patsy, Abednigo (1734-1842) Josiah (1740-1814). Isham I Hodges is still listed in Robert's household in 1748, 1749, but he is not listed there in 1750 thus it is concluded Isham Hodges I had established his own household by this time. (This part of old Lunenburg County is now Franklin County, Virginia). Robert Hodges is the first settler shown by records to have been living within the modern limits of Franklin County Virginia" (excerpt from Juanita Patton's book, The Family Of Isham And Betsy Hodges From Virginia To Tennessee). In Landon Bell's book, "Sunlight on the Southside", (List of Lunenburg Titheables) we find Isham Hodges I enumerated in the household of Robert Hodges in 1748. Again in 1749 Isham Hodges is enumerated in the house of Robert Hodges. In 1750 Isham Hodges I was enumerated separate from Robert leaving us to believe he had established his own household by this time. Robert passed away abt Dec 1771 (Age: 67) in Henry, Virginia. Robert is listed in Capt Bollings' Troops in the Historical Register of Virginians in the Revolution.
