About Robert Hynds
"Tauranga settler Robert Hynds had an adventurous life. From his beginnings in Northern Ireland, to the cane fields of Queensland, Australia, and believing doomsday had arrived during the 1886 Tarawera Eruption in New Zealand. He then went bear hunting in Canada, and riding with Buffalo Bill’s Wild West show in the United States, before arriving back in New Zealand by steamer as heavy seas and a fierce southerly gale were howling through Cook Strait. Robert finally settled to a more sedate pace in Tauranga with his family, in the Greerton | Pākōrau and Gate Pā | Pukehinahina area where Hynds Road carries his name" Source: Biography by Debbie McCauley https://debbiemccauleyauthor.wordpress.com/biographies/robert-hynds....
