Robert Peter Jorgensen 1940 ~ 2006 Robert Peter Jorgensen passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday June 1, 2006 after a two year battle with colon cancer. He was born September 10, 1940, in Mt. Pleasant, Utah to Ray and Delma Jorgensen. Robert was raised in Sanpete County where he grew up on a farm milking cows, raising crops and herding sheep. It was here that he gained his sense of hard work and love of the land. He attended the local schools and graduated from North Sanpete High School, then went on to Snow College and Utah State College. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he held many church callings including bishop and stake president. He also served as a High Councilman at Snow College. His love for the Lord and his strong testimony were obvious to everyone and he was loved by many. Robert married Betty Nelson in the Manti Temple September 14, 1963. He and Betty raised seven children and have 14 grandchildren. Robert was in every way a "family man". He spent countless hours with his kids and grandkids on tractors, four-wheelers and horses. He loved the farm and the work it created. He taught his family many of life's lessons as they worked together. Robert is survived by his wife Betty and his children, Tami (Steve) Kelly of South Jordan, UT; Trent (Julie) of Mt. Pleasant, UT; Troy (Staci) of Mt. Pleasant, UT; Andrea (Mauricio) Munoz of Sandy, UT; Scott (Kyria) of West Jordan, UT; Brian of Salt Lake City, UT; and Tyler of South Jordan, UT; his brother Neil and sister Colleen, both of Sanpete. He is preceded in death by his parents Ray and Delma and his brother Keith. Funeral Services will be held Monday June 5, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. in the Mt. Pleasant Stake Center 295 South State Street, in Mt. Pleasant. There will be a viewing Sunday evening, June 4th, from 6-8 p.m. at Rasmussen Mortuary, 96 N. 100 W. in Mt. Pleasant and prior to services from 9:30-10:30 at the church. Interment will be in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.
