About Robert H Kerr, of Scotland to New Jersey

Three brothers, Robert, John and David Kerr came from County Londenderry, Ireland, in the spring of 1708 and landed at Philadelphia. They were purely Scottish, having been in Ireland less than a year. They claimed to have descended from Robert Ker, Earl of Somerset (Lord Ker) who was so conspicuous a personage during the reign of James I. They are said to have had some documentary proof of this, which has long since disappeared and remains only as tradition. John located in northern Georgia about 1715 and there seems to be no further records of him. Robert located in Camden county, NJ and died between 1730 and 1740 The only known child was James. The other brother, David settled in York or Adams County, PA, and died about 1759.
