About Robert King
Newspapers - Clutha Leader 28 April 1903 Page 5
Many in this district, more particularly at Hillend, where he was well-known, will regret to learn of the death of Robert, third son of Mr James King, of Benhar, which took place at bis father's residence on Friday afternoon last. He suffered from an illness extending over two years, and towards the last week or two internal cornplications intervened. These caused him great pain, and finally carried him off, his long illness so weakening his once robust constitution so much so that his system was unequal to the additional strain cast upon it. He was only 31 years of age at the time of his death. He was born in Benhar, and spent the whole of his days in the district. Robert was a bright hard-working young man, honest and upright and thoroughly straightforward in all his dealings and behaviour. He was universally well liked by all who knew him and was a general favourite with his mates, and his early death will call forth feelings of deep sympathy with his parents and the relatives and friends of the family. A large gathering, including a representative number of the Loyal Dalton Lodge, followed his remains to their last resting-place in Balclutha cemetery yesterday, The Revs, S. W, Currie and P. B. Frazer were the officiating clergymen. Per Sec. J. Hogg read the Oddfellows' funeral service at the grave.
