9th born of nine known children to father's second wife.
His business was the Halliburton- Grissom clothing firm of Carthage, Missouri which along with J M Whitsett's store suffered a major fire December 1917. Store was originally A B Deutsch Clothing, north side of square at 119 east Third street, where he and [ H B "Bates" Smith] had become partners with Deutsch several years after store was removed to north side of square, with employee R C Grissom later buying Smith's share. He had two sisters: Mrs Samuel (Helen Mar) McReynolds who preceded him in death and Mrs. Mattie J. Richardson of Los Angeles The late attorney, John William Halliburton (1846-1922) with whom his sister's husband first partnered with (before firm with son and John H Flanigan), of this city was also a brother.
Robert E Lee Haliburton a native Missourian, 9th of ten children(sic) by 2nd wife Armilda E Collins with father, Judge Charles Westley Halliburton, from Tennessee, father a prominent Democrat of Randolph, Linn and Sullivan Counties in Missouri, serving in numerous public offices. He was a member of the legislature in 1856 and of the state senate in 1882. He was a delegate at the Democratic Convention of 1860 and of the state constitutional, re-construction, convention in 1875.

December 1917 a tragic fire burnt his and Whitsett's stores on north side of the "town's square".
