About Robert Gunn Marmon
He arrived in Laguna in 1872, having followed his brother, Walter, who had gone out to teach in Laguna in 1871 and had not been heard of afterward. The two brothers stayed at Laguna for the rest of their lives. They both married Laguna women, and both fought against the Apaches with the Laguna troops in 1885 (Troop 1, First Regiment, New Mexico Cavalry).
He served as Governor of Laguna Pueblo, the first white man to be Governor of an Indian Pueblo.
