Robert J. Miller, 60, of New Providence, died Monday evening at Hershey Medical Center from injuries he received in a September automobile accident in New Providence. According to a family spokesman, Miller had been a patient at the medical center since the accident, which happened Sept. 17. According to State Police, Miller backed his car out of a private drive onto the east side of Route 222, a half mile north of New Providence. A north bound car struck his vehicle broadside, according to police reports. Miller suffered head and chest injuries in the accident. Miller was a retired employee of the Columbia branch of Conrail. Born in New Providence, he was a son of the late Dewey C. and Bessie M. Frank Miller. He was a member of New Providence United Church of Christ. Miller was a veteran of the Navy, having served in World War II on the aircraft carrier Midway. He was member of Washington Lodge 156, Free and Accepted Masons, Quarryville, and the Quarryville Lions Club. He is survived by a brother, Dewey L. Miller, New Providence R2, and a sister, Catharine Ray, Strasburg. (Intelligencer Journal - Apr 28, 1982)
