The identity of Robert Mure of Rowallan here treated is uncertain. He is not mentioned in Sir William Mure of Rowallan's Historie of the family. However, in the chronology of the family as identified by him he follows Sir Adam Mure of Rowallan, Historie, page 68 who was still alive on 2 November 1404 NRS: GD25/1/27 and he is followed by Archibald Mure of Rowallan Historie who died in or before 1460 when yet another Robert Mure of Rowallan had a precept of sasine for Rowallan. Robert Mure of Rowallan here treated was implicated in the slaughter of Mauris Neilson of Dalrymple, Robert Black of Dalrymple and Donald Young at Dalmellington, for the burning of their houses and raiding of their goods and of the Castles, and Alexander Conynghame and the Lairds of Badlane and of Drumcross. In 1409 he and the others involved received a remission from Robert, Duke of Albany, Governor of Scotland. NRS: GD8/1
