Robert LEIPER is the son of Thomas Leiper, Ploughman in Avondale. He was born at Abbey parish in Renfrewshire, sometime before 1 November 1803, the date upon which his baptism was registered at Avondale in Lanarkshire. The name of his mother is not mentioned in his baptismal record. It reads as follows: "Robert son to Thomas Leiper Ploughman to Mr Watson of Castlehill, born in the Abbey parish of Paisley." Robert married Isabella MILLER. The marriage was booked on 9 August 1828 at Avondale in Lanarkshire. The marriage booking reads as follows: "Robert Leiper & Isobel Millar." [National Records of Scotland, Avondale Marriages, reference OPR.621/4] Image of Marriage Record
