Robert Napier was born in September 1697 Virginia. He was the son of Robert Napier and Mary Perrin.[1]

Married 8 Jan 1723 in Virginia to Mary Tarleton Hughes, who appears to have been the daughter of Sarah (Tarleton) and a Hughes, although sources are lacking.

In May 1743, Robert NAPIER (Jr.) was sued for separation by his wife on the grounds of abuse. His Will is dated 9 December 1755 and was proven 12 May 1763. His wife, Mary Tarleton HUGHES, was the daughter of Jesse HUGHES and Sarah TARLETON, of Henrico County, Virginia. Robert NAPIER was a planter in Henrico, Goochland, and Albemarle counties, Virginia. He is thought to have inherited his father's plantation in a will dated 1744, which has not been found. He is known to have received at least two royal grants of 300 acres in Goochland County, in1734 and 1735, by which time he had apparently moved inland, to the James River valley. In Goochland County, he deeded a negro girl to his wife on Jan 5, 1743; and he deeded a negro boy named Will to his daughter, Frances. He moved again to Albemarle County, Virginia, where he wrote his will dated 9 December 1755.


According to Chancery Court document, Mary Napier vs Robert Napier Jr, in Goochland County, Virginia. Robert Napier Jr testified on 4 Feb 1742 that He had married Mary Hughes Napier 17 years ago. 1742-17 yrs = 1725 year of Marriage. Making Patrick Napier Sr born probably in 1726. Also states, “They lived together for 13 years until 1738 and Had 6 Children. And that about 4 years ago in 1738 Mary separated from Him. They were still separated in 1742.”
