Bob Oberg was ushered into his heavenly home on June 4, 2011. He was born March 20, 1928 in Hastings, NE to Benjamin and Opal (Denton) Oberg. Bob graduated from Hastings High School & Hastings College. He was very active in Athletics, played the trombone professionally and served in the Army. Bob was an officer in the bank in Brush, CO for a number of years and then was an officer with Universal CIT. He later owned & operated Hogan Sporting Goods, a chain of stores in Iowa for 35 years, with 5 salesmen covering the state selling athletic equipment to high schools and colleges. He retired to Estes Park in 1989 where he was president of the Lions club, a member of the Village band, Big Jazz Band and Highland Brass Quintet. He enjoyed hiking and belonged to Trailmasters for a number of years. He was also an avid fisherman. One of his favorite pastimes was skiing at Hidden Valley where he was an instructor and a member of the Ski Patrol. He attended Rocky Mountain Church when his health allowed. Bob is survived by his wife Adell of Estes Park; children Jeff Larsen of Manchester, IA; Pam Wessely of Kansas City, KS; Karen Chamberlain of Bluffton, SC; Kathy Lyles of Fredericksburg, TX and Kristin Cawood of Hampstead, NC. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother. At Bob's request, no public service will be held.
