Robert Page, of Acle & of Ormsby

Robert Page of Acle & of Ormsby, St. Margaret, Co. Norfolk, England, husbandman, was born as early as 1577. He died at Ormsby between 1 & 23 July 1617, and was probably buried in the churchyard of Ormsby St. Margaret. He was the son of Robert Page and Martha.

Norfolk Parish Register Marriages, Vol. 1, pg: 22: Roberte Page & Margaret Goodwynge (Goodwin) were married in the parish of Hemblington. 16 July 1598. As Hemblington is only four miles from Acle, and as this Page was the only person of the name there married, he is no doubt the Robert page of Acle.

At least two published, peer reviewed, articles provide detailed information about Robert Page and his wife, Margaret Goodwin. The first appeared in 1912[1]; the second, in 1987.[2] Both published accounts associate only five children with the family of Robert and Margaret (Goodwin) Page. From the later account and in brief, these five children are

1. Francis Page, born ca 1600; died Ormesby, 1666, unmarried.
2. Robert Page, immigrant to New England; settled Salem briefly before removing to Hampton, where he died 1679; married South Walsham, 1629 to Lucy Warde.
3. Thomas Page, baptized at Hemsby, 1 May 1605
4. Rebecca Page, baptized at Ormesby St. Michael, 16 May 1608, m. ____ Rix.
5. Henry Page, born ca1610.

• I. ROBERT PAGE, the first of the name in Hampton, was a son of Robert and Margaret Page, of Ormsby, in the county of Norfolk, England, where he was born about 1604. His wife's name was Lucy. The record of their examination, April 11, 1637, preparatory to leaving England, gives his age as thirty-three years, and hers as thirty years. They, with three children, "Francis, Margarett and Susanna, and two sarvants, William Moulton aged 20 years and Anne Wadd, 15 years, were desirous to pass into New England to inhabitt." .... _____________________________________

There is a posting on http://archiver.rootsweb.ancestry.com/th/read/PAGE/1997-05/0864660491 which lists these children but not the spouses, these may or may not be children of the same name of which are Margaret Goodwin & Robert (d.1617) Page's. I would have reservations on using this information since there are children listed that were born after Robert's death.
