His Father/Grandparents: "We now commence with Robert Potter, son of John Potter, and his wife Ruth (Fisher) Potter and grandson of the first Robert Potter mentioned in this work. It appears that he moved to Providence, now Scituate and there lived the rest of his days. As we find a deed in the Providence records, book 4, page 102, of ____ acres of land in the Westcanaug purchase, for which he paid $?, deed from Daniel Abbot, 1719.

This Robert Potter was born 3/5/1665 or 1666. We do not know when he died, but it appears that he was living in 1730, as we find a deed then given to his daughter, Sarah Bennett, wife of Benjamin Bennett, dated 10/7/1730, giving them thirty acres during their natural lives, then to go to their son, Jonathan Bennett (the copy of said deed the writer now has in his possession). It would appear that his wife was not living, as only his name was attached to the deed.

This is all the information we have on him, except that he had a son Robert, who settled in Scituate and died there in 1758. He probably came there from Warwick with his father. This Robert Potter was great grandfather to the writer. The writer found in a record book in the hands of Dr. E. M. Snow, superintendent of the board of health of Providence, where Robert Potter of Providence, was married to Catherine Johnson, of Warwick, 4/3/1729. It would seem that he became acquainted with her before he left Warwick and went back and took her for his wife and lived in Scituate, as I find a deed (to him) from Daniel Abbot to Robert Potter, Jr., dated 1729, of ___ acres of the Wescanaug land for which he paid L30. Providence Record book, No. 8, page 243. This Robert Potter died 4/4/1758. His birth and the death of his wife are not know to the writer."

Page 17 - 18 lists their children:

1) "Robert Potter, born abt. 1730. Married Sarah Ralph" - more on them, page 18
2) "William Potter, born abt. 1732. Married Hannah Corey"
3) "John Potter, born 11/17/1734-35. Married Elizabeth Fiske"
"It is not known whether they had any other children." https://babel.hathitrust.org/cgi/pt?id=wu.89066069659&view=1up&seq=12

Research Notes

This record had Potter-2587 linked as his Father. Melissa (Warren) Krzal removed him 1/27/22. That record has Rachel (Warner) Potter as his wife. There is a son, Robert Potter linked. His dates are abt. 1700, RI - 2/6/1777, NC. Note in sources says his wife was Mary (Knowlton) which does not match this records spouse. Adding this note so I know why it was done. 2/3/22 (I adopted this record so did not add the information/relationships)

The parents of Potter-2587 are a match for this records's Grandparents. I am wondering if the wrong spouse is linked instead of Sarah (Wells) 1668 - 1730 or he was married more than once?

I think these are his Grandparents: Page 11: Robert Potter & Ruth (Fisher): https://babel.hathitrust.org/cgi/pt?id=wu.89066069659&view=1up&seq=12
