Married Sarah Webb about 1677. Sarah and their daughter, Mary, were killed in the Deerfield Massacre of 1704. Their children, Samuel and Elizabeth were captured and driven to Montreal, Quebec. Elizabeth's husband, Andrew Stephens, was also killed in the attack.
Robert's origins are not known at this time, and the 1650 birth date is an estimate. There is also no record of his death or burial. though, according to Shelden's "History of Deerfield", p.879, he is buried here among "at least nine soldiers who followed Turner through the turmoil and din of the battle which cost him (Turner) his life." He probably died c.1715.
Robert was a soldier under Captain William Turner. He and their son, John, fought the attackers. They were the only ones of the family to survive.
