About Robert Anthony Sander
Robert A. Sander, 65, 1919 Canterbury, died Saturday, Sept. 13, 1980 at St. Anthony Hospital, Hays. He was born Sept. 10, 1915, at Walker, the son of Michael and Anna (Geist) Sander.
Sander married Lydia Staab on June 4, 1946 at Walker.
A veteran of World War II and a retired farmer. He was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church and the VFW at Victoria.
Survivors include his wife of the home; a son, Steve of Walker; a daughter, Mrs. Patricia Leiker of Hays; two brothers, Ed and Richard, both of Russell; four sisters, Mrs. Anna Schmeidler of Hays, Aurelia Urban of Brookville, Mrs. Regina Hertel of Great Bend, and Mrs. Blandine Giebler of Russell; and five grandchildren.
Funeral services were at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church, with burial in St. Ann Cemetery in Walker. Graveside military honors were given by the Victoria VFW.
