Robert Smith

Robert Smith, 2nd son of Britain and Rebecca (Bowen) Smith is included inn the oral history of the Smith family and yet little is known of him except what appears in various census records. He was born in Overton Co., TN during 1812 and he was pobably married in that same county prior to 1835 to Sarah "Elizabeth" Qualls and his 2 oldest children were born there.

The family moved ino Carroll Co., AR probably during the fall of 1837 and most likely in the ocmpany of the Jesse Seitz family. Both families settled in the Dry Fork area. Jese Seitz about 1/4 mile sw of Britain Smith and Robert about a 1/4 mile sw of Jesse Seitz. Their land purchases are in the family record.

Robert Smith's 2 oldest sons Alexander & James Smith remained in Carroll and Madison counties all of their lives butR obert Smith and the rest of the family disappear from all records after 1860.
