Also known as a Flanagin, Flanagan. Spouse is unknown due to courthouse fires 1855 and 1864 (by General Sherman), most of Washington County's early marriage records were destroyed. He sued the estate of George Thrift/Elizabeth Hurst on Sept. 14, 1796 as R.T. Flanagin, won and changed his name to Robert Thrift. Jane Thrift Frizel, daughter of George Thrift, was a witness for him. 2008 DNA tests proved that George Thrift (haplogroup was NOT the FATHER of our Robert T. Thrift b 1770/72.
2. Robert Thrift b 1766 in Fairfax Co., VA .Refer to as "Robert Thrift of VA" He is the legitimate son of George Thrift and Elizabeth Hurst who our Robert b 1770 sued. Robert b 1766 of VA had 3 wives: 1. Amelia Peed 1772-1797 - died after birth of child, 2. Rachel Magruder 3. Margaret Gaines 1772-1858
