Robert Tolver Gerard, 1st Baron Gerard

Robert Tolver Gerard, 1st Baron Gerard of Bryn was born on 12 May 1808. He married Harriet Clifton, daughter of Edward Clifton, on 14 February 1849. He died on 15 March 1887 at age 78.

    He is the son of John Gerard and Elizabeth Ferrers. He gained the rank of Colonel in the service of the Lancashire Hussars Yeomanry Cavalry. He succeeded to the title of 13th Baronet Gerard, of Bryn, co. Palatine of Lancaster [E., 1611] on 21 February 1854. He held the office of Aide-de-Camp to HM Queen Victoria. He was created 1st Baron Gerard of Bryn, co. Palatine of Lancaster [U.K.] on 18 January 1876.
