About Roger Allen Grothe
Roger Grothe, a long time resident of Waseca, passed away on February 27, 2008 in Tempe, AZ at the age of 84.
He was born to Agnes and Charles Grothe in Hendrum, Minnesota on June 17, 1923 and grew up on the family farm. He graduated from Hendrum High School and enlisted in the Army during World War II, where he served in the Phillipines. On November 23, 1946 he married Edna Williamson, also of Hendrum. After farming for a few years, they lived in Greeley, Colorado and then moved to Waseca in 1956, where Roger worked for Birds Eye until his retirement. Roger was a member of Christ Community Church and Gideons International. He was an enthusiastic supporter of many missionaries and loved gospel music. In the early 1980’s Roger and Edna started spending winters in Arizona, where Edna passed away in 1993. On November 5, 1994, he married Margaret Pedersen Striemer, also of Waseca. They moved permanently to Mesa, AZ in 2006.
Besides his wife Marge, Roger leaves behind his children: Judy and Glenn Abraham of Chandler, AZ; Bill and Millie Grothe of Waseca, MN; Gail and Paul Soderquist of Chandler, AZ; John and Jeannine Grothe of Chaska, MN; grandchildren Mark (Janae) and Jeffrey Abraham, Johanna, Jared, and Corinne Grothe, Peter and Sarah Soderquist, Andrew and Marissa Grothe, and one great grandson, Saroyan Abraham.
A sevice will be held for family and friends at Christ Community Church in Waseca on Friday, March 7th, 2008 at 11:00 AM with visitation at the church starting at 10:00 AM.
The family requests that any memorials be sent to Gideons International for the purchase of Bibles.
