Biographical Notes: Roger Sherman Skinner was the son of Dr. John and Chloe (Sherman) Skinner (daughter of American founding father Roger Sherman of Connecticut). The family moved from East Hartford, Connecticut to New Haven, Connecticut when he was four years old. Skinner moved his wife and family to New York City in 1828. He consequently compiled the New York State Register for 1830 and 1831. He died on a visit to Peru, Lasalle County, Illinois.
He was survived by all six of his children.
Additional Notes:
His youngest daughter, Jane Wakeman Skinner, married Timothy Dwight V, President of Yale College.
