Rosa Lovezilla Mercer was born in 1889 to Samuel A. Mercer and Emma V. Wright. She spent most of her early life in Wood County, Ohio. She married George William Grubaugh sometime between 1930 and 1940. They had one daughter, likely adopted, Orpha Jane Grubaugh (b.1938). Rosa died in 1954 and George died in 1960.

Obituary, Saginaw News, Apr. 21, 1954 Mrs. Grubaugh Called by Death Alma - Mrs. Rosa L. Grubaugh, 63, died yesterday at her Summer township farm home southwest of here. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 3 pm at Moody Funeral Home with Rev. Jack Carrier of St. Louis Church of God officiating and burial in Pritchard cemetery south of Elwell. She was born on October 8, 1890, in Wood County, Ohio. Surviving are her husband, George Grubaugh, and a daughter, Orpha Jane, a junior in Alma high school
